Fire on Wenlon Drive in Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department District 8 responded to a fire just before 6:00 am Friday at a quadruplex on Wenlon Drive.

Upon arrival, there was heavy black smoke coming from the front door of the 1203 unit. Fire crews made sure all residents of the unit and surrounding units were evacuated. They then pulled handlines and extinguished the fire inside. Engine 1 responded to assist with ventilation of the home.

No one was injured during this incident.

The fire was contained to the utility closet and kitchen area of the unit. There was moderate smoke and water damage throughout the home. The residents of 1203 were displaced but were assisted by the American Red Cross. Unit 1201 received minor smoke and water damage, but no meter was pulled.

MFRD Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to conduct a routine investigation. The preliminary investigation results suggest the fire started in the utility closet of the home and appears accidental.
