Crediting community support for its continued growth in this market, First National Bank of Middle Tennessee officials cut the ribbon on its second full-service branch at 3427 Memorial Boulevard on June 22, 2017.

The new branch is First National Bank's fourth location to open in Murfreesboro in the last six years. The first bank branch opened in 2011 on Gateway Boulevard, followed by FNB Mortgage and Waterstone Title at the nearby Waterstone Building. The bank currently has twelve offices in several counties where financial services are offered.

In addition to a full range of banking services, the Memorial branch will offer mortgage loans with two FNB Mortgage officers stationed at the location. "Six years ago we opened our first Rutherford County branch in Murfreesboro on Gateway Boulevard and have been blessed with tremendous opportunities and growth, the reason we are all here today," Brian Wilcox, Executive Vice president who oversees Rutherford County bank operations, told a full-house grand opening ceremony crowd.

Levoy Knowles, First National board of director's chairman, noted the bank first entered the Rutherford County market in 2007 with a two-person loan office and has now grown to 43 employees at four locations in Murfreesboro. "If not for the acceptance of folks in Rutherford County, we couldn't have done this," he said.

Pieter van Vuuren, President and CEO for First National Bank, emphasized the value of community banking to the national economy and locally. "We all need a financial institution where you can get an answer. A place where you can speak to someone who can make a decision. A decision on a loan request, a decision on a CD interest rate or just sponsoring a youth baseball team," he said. "Without having his flexibility at a financial institution, we all just became a number in the big banking world," van Vuuren added.

The new branch will have 8-10 employees, offering depository products, safe deposit boxes, commercial lending, mortgage lending and consumer lending. Staff members include branch manager Colleen Clary, loan officers Jamie Harrington and Kim Stice, customer service representatives Patty James, Laura Day and Renee Patterson and mortgage loan officers Karen Milligan and Bill Fuson. The 5,400-square-foot building was constructed by Shane McFarland Construction of Murfreesboro.
