A Saturday (6/4/2016) morning drizzle did not stop flag wavers from lining Sam Ridley Parkway to honor Blue Angel Marine Captain James "Jeff" Kuss who was killed last Thursday when his F/A-18 jet crashed.

Smyrna Police Sergeant Bobby Gibson said that a police escort took the Blue Angel from the site. The motorcade traveled along the Sam Ridley Parkway that was lined with mourners, onto Threet Industrial Drive, and into the Smyrna-Rutherford County Airport where a Navy C-130 was waiting to take Captain Kuss home to Pensacola.

People are saying it appeared that as the jet was going down, Captain Kuss maneuvered the plane away from homes and saved many lives.

The Blue Angels were making a practice run around 3:00 o'clock Thursday (6/2/2016) afternoon when the tragic crash occurred in a field behind the Sam Davis Home.
