Autumn is off to a soggy start. A rainy weekend has soaked Rutherford County and most of Middle Tennessee, leading the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Watch until Monday night.

Forecasters predict up to another three inches of rain through Monday night on already waterlogged ground.

A cold front is stalled over Middle Tennessee, which is serving as the focal point for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Where very heavy rain falls in a short time period, flash flooding will become a problem. Street flooding may become widespread. Localized flooding of low lying areas and small streams could occur.

Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday and Wednesday. This Flash Flood Watch may need to be extended.
