Foot pursuit in Rutherford County ends with arrest

A man was arrested after leading officers on a foot pursuit Monday afternoon in LaVergne.

Two officers approached the suspect while he was sitting in his car on Centrepoint Way in La Vergne around 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 19th. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Majibu Kisesa, attempted to flee as the officers tried to remove him from the vehicle and take him into custody.

One of the officers was seriously injured during the struggle. Despite also being injured, the second officer entered in a foot pursuit with Kisesa and was able to catch up to him and take him into custody.

After the arrest, the officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Kisesa, a Nashville resident, was released from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office on $23,500 bond. He is charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest and Resist: Stop/Frisk/Halt/Arrest or Search.
