Former Rutherford County Sheriff's candidate Dale Armour has been selected by the Algood City Council as their new police chief.

Armour beat out John Frazier for the job. Both candidates selected after a search conducted by the University of Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Services made the recommendations.

Armour ran for sheriff in 2014, running unsuccessfully against then incumbent Robert Arnold.

Algood hasn't had a police chief since last March when then Chief Gary Harris was fired by the council. This after viewing a video of Harris alleged driving while intoxicated.

Algood is in Putnam County, just northeast of Cookeville.
