Memorial Day ended tragically in Walter Hill. Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh told NewsRadio WGNS that four adults were found fatally shot around 3:30 Monday (5/28/2018) afternoon in a home at 1132 Rivercrest Drive in the Cascade Falls subdivision. That is between I-840 and highway 231-North (Lebanon Rd.), near the Wilson County line.

Deputies and a nearby Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper made a tactical entry to the home, because of the nature of the call. They found two men and two women deceased in one bedroom and a pistol was on the floor.

Sheriff Fitzhugh explained, "Three family members were killed and a husband took his own life on Monday."

Killed was 25-year old Cassidy Ganey of Rivercrest Drive, she was the wife of 29-year old Sean Ganey, who according to the sheriff, apparently killed himself. In addition, also found deceased were the woman's father, 55-year old Kenny Adair and her stepmother, 48-year old Shelly Lorenz Adair.

Sheriff Fitzhugh noted that the Ganey's young child was in the home, but was unhurt and "quickly moved out".

The sheriff said, "This is a very tragic situation we see far too often. Unfortunately, this is the second time in a short period of time. I think it's a tragic, tragic event."

Looking back, another husband killed his wife in a murder-suicide May 16th in the county. That death took place off of Highway 96 going towards Franklin. The Sheriff stated, "Two in the last two weeks is two too many."

Records indicate that deputies were called to the home last week in regards to a suicide threat. At that time, Sean Ganey was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. At that time, a family member removed the firearms from the the Rivercrest Drive home.
