Gas Prices Vary $3.32-$3.49 From One Road To Next

Gas prices seem to be determined more by competition and the retailer than anything else. As national news reports prices pushed by market speculators, refinery fires and increased crude oil prices, Murfreesboro's prices seem to be determined by competition.

The old discounters fade and new ones swoop-in. Entire areas of town seem to vary in price as much as twenty cents per gallon difference.

It appears that discounters along Memorial Boulevard and a few on the Old Fort Parkway are offering the lowest prices. A few retailers are offering regular gas in Murfreesboro at $3.32 per gallon.

Be aware that some gas retailers are posting a lower "cash price". Since the majority of motorists put their purchase on credit cards, the "cash price" does not apply.  In reality, only a few locations have posted "cash prices", and that's almost a "bait and switch" approach.
