Gem in the Box Jewelry Shoppe will be closing its doors next month. Owner, and City Councilman Eddie Smotherman, said on Facebook that the metals market, economy, crime in the neighborhood and consumer confidence have taken a toll on his business. The last day open will be the day after Valentine's Day, February 15th. Gem in the Box has been on West Northfield Boulevard for over 12-years. Smotherman, in his post, thanked all of his customers for their business over the years.
