Ghosts and Goblins Take Over Historic Square

The sounds of groans and screams echoed from the pre-Civil War courthouse Wednesday afternoon (10/31/2012) as ghosts and goblins roamed from business to office collecting lots of treats. For the ninth year, the Only Downtown Business Association and the Main Street Program hosted the fun for youngster with a sweet tooth.

Lines of trick or treaters totally circle the square. In front of the courthouse, the spooks had an opportunity to see a firetruck as well as ambulance. And get candy, of course!

Shacklett's Preserving Memories

(L-R below) Gloria Christy and Bill Shacklett, the brother and sister who run Shacklett's Photography, preserved memories that would treat families for a lifetime. 

And there were all sorts of costumes: (below L-R) from little babies, gangsters, Spider Man, and a manager and guitar playing punk rock queen.

After downtown, many headed a couple of blocks off the square to visit the homes along East Main Street, many of them decorated on the level of what many do at Christmas. Some home owners reported having a thousand people drop by.

And at 940 New Salem Highway, Sheriff Robert Arnold hosted a trunk or treat at the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office.
