VERBATIM: Oakland outscored Smyrna 26-to-14 in the second quarter and built on that enroute to a 70-56 win. Shelby Gibson led the way with 23, Emily Eubank had 21 as the Lady Patriots take third place. After trailing Blackman by two at the half, Riverdale used a 23-to-13 third quarter to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish on their way to the district championship. Alexa Middleton scored 25 for the Lady Warriors, Tyisha Petty had 18. Both Crystal Dangerfield and Alex Johnson tallied 19 for Blackman. Friday night's opening round of the girls region tournament is set now. Riverdale will host Shelbyville, Blackman will entertain Lincoln County, Smyrna will travel to Columbia and Oakland is at Franklin County. Smyrna- 56 vs Oakland- 70

The Oakland Lady Patriots bounced back after their Saturday loss to Blackman by defeating the Smyrna Lady Bulldogs 70-56 in Monday's District 7AAA consolation game. Oaklands Shelby Gibson, who has been one of the tournaments most exciting players to watch, scored a game high 23 points. Oakland managed to shoot 47% form the field in the contest. Smyrna sank 12 First Bank Three's in the game, but never were able to overcome the Lady Patriots dominant 2nd quarter run. Savannah McIntyre lead Smyrna with 16 points. Both Oakland and Smyrna will be on the road Friday for their Region Tournament matchups.

Riverdale- 68 vs Blackman- 58

The Riverdale Lady Warriors stayed perfect on the season by defeating the Blackman Lady Blaze 68-58 in the District 7AAA Tournament Championship game on Monday evening. Riverdale extended their season record to (28-0) and showed many exactly why they are the states number one ranked team. After trailing by 2 at the half, Riverdale used relentless defense to charge back at the Blaze with full force. Blackman turned the ball over 11 times in the contest and four times in the 4th quarter of play. Riverdales Alexa Middleton had a game high 25 points and Blackman was lead by Crystal Dangerfield's 19 and Alex Johnson's 19 points.
