The Rutherford County community of friends of Melanie Crow Smith are coming together through GoFundMe to help raise final expenses.
Smith was fatally shot outside Burnette Church of Christ Sunday. The GoFundMe page reads she "woke up with a smile on her face and with love in her heart."
The person who wrote the description on the page went on to say "she recently started a new job and was looking forward to a new chapter in life."
According to the author, Melanie apparently began to feel sick toward the end of the service and decided to leave a few minute early. As she was approaching her vehicle, a masked gunman opened fire, killing Smith.
Crow, age 39, will be laid to rest Thursday. A Celebration of Melanie's life will be on Thursday at 12:00pm, at West Harpeth Funeral Home.
