The reason the cases were lighter when compared to previous months has to do with the courts taking a two week break over the Christmas holidays in December. Over that two week period, no cases went before the General Sessions Court, which means no cases were passed along to the Grand Jury.

Looking back to January, a total of 131 cases were indicted. Of that number, 82 were felonies and 49 were misdemeanor cases.
