Eight pounds of marijuana valued at $24,000 were confiscated from a grandfather’s vehicle while he traveled with his wife and 3-year-old grandchild Saturday on Interstate 24, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office supervisor said.

Dyne Stinson, 52, of Riverdale , Ga. , was charged with felony possession of marijuana, said Lt. Chris Haynes of the Interstate Crime Enforcement division. The marijuana was considered to be high quality.

ICE Deputy Travis Perusse stopped the Stinsons who were accompanied by their 3-year-old grandchild. ICE deputies were given permission to search the vehicle.

“ICE deputies recovered eight pounds of high quality marijuana concealed inside the spare tire,” Haynes reported. “The passenger, Dyne Stinson, claimed responsibility for the marijuana.”

Deputies released the driver and child.

Stinson was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and released on $4,000 bond. A hearing is set April 30 in General Sessions Court.
