The official groundbreaking ceremony for the soon to be built Rutherford County Judicial Center was held on Friday in Murfreesboro. The new court building will be at the intersections of North Maple and West Lytle Streets. A new 366 car parking garage will be where the Daily News Journal once stood.

The $73-million structure is designed to complement the surrounding historic uptown district. It will be six stories tall and have 200,000 square feet of courtroom and office space. Arches above windows and entrances offer an eclectic blend of yesterday and today so the structure compliments its surroundings.
