Hairspray is based on the 1988 film of the same name which starred Divine and Ricki Lake by cult filmmaker John Waters. A film version of the musical, starring Nikki Blonsky and John Travolta was on the silver screen in 2007.

Center Executive Director Patience Long said, "Audiences won't be able to resist the tapping their feet to the beat as Tracy Turnblad and friends triumph over school bullies, racism, and anyone against big personalities or big hair!"

All generations of show-goers will learn a powerful message of equality and kindness as they enjoy this bright and upbeat musical, featuring cast favorites such as "You Can't Stop the Beat" and "The Nicest Kids in Town."

Hairspray is sponsored by Redstone Financial Credit Union. To make the show a full downtown experience, show patrons will receive a promotional code to receive 10% off when they dine at Puckett's Murfreesboro before or after the show.

Hairspray runs January 5-21, 2018 Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 pm and matinees at 2:00 o'clock Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Adult tickets are $15, Seniors/Students/Military are $13, and tickets for children are $11. There is a $2 per ticket discount for groups of 10 or more. Go to boroarts.org or phone 615-904-2787
