Handgun Permits and Parks in Tennessee
September 16, 2009
Well, you may not be able to posses a handgun in a park if you have a permit in Murfreesboro, but if you live in Tullahoma- you’re good. As long as you have a legal handgun carry permit issued by the state of Tennessee.
The Tullahoma Board of Mayor and Aldermen took official action Monday night, voting not to draft a resolution opting out of the States new city parks handgun carry law, passed earlier this year.
Though many nearby cities, including Manchester, and of course Murfreesboro took action to actively restrict permit holders from carrying within city parks, Tullahoma took no action, allowing the law to go into effect September 1st.
By a vote of 4-3, the Board took action Monday, addressing the subject expressly.
According to State numbers, some 2,200 people possess handgun permits in Coffee County.
