Nearly one in eight of our neighbors will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Earlier detection and improved therapies have increased survival rates, but post-treatment support can still be a challenge for many women.

The YMCA "ABC" program, which is also called the After Breast Cancer program, provides comprehensive nutrition, exercise and wellness services free of charge to breast cancer patients and survivors. Costs of the program are covered by fundraisers like the upcoming Heroes in Heels fashion show that will be held at New Vision Baptist Church on October 19th (Thursday). The event will open with refreshments at 5:00pm and start at 6:00pm.

This year, the Master of Ceremonies will be Holly Thompson from WSMV Channel 4.

During the 16-week ABC program, participants receive a custom wellness plan designed by a Pink Ribbon Certified personal trainer, nutrition counseling from a registered dietitian and encouragement and support from caring staff members as well as fellow breast cancer patients and survivors.

ABC is now partnering with the City of Murfreesboro Rec Centers which allows for participants to use Sportscom or Patterson Park during their recovery.

Again, this years Heroes in Heels fashion show will take place at New Vision Baptist Church on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro. It will open at 5 PM with refreshments.
