As part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of heroin and cocaine in the county, Rutherford County Sheriff's narcotics detectives recovered about 1-1/2 ounces of heroin valued at $2,500 and about one-half ounce of cocaine valued at $600 during a search warrant Friday at a Maymont Drive home in Murfreesboro.

Detective Corey Floyd charged suspect Christopher Lamont Gamble, 35, with:

· Manufacture/delivery/sale of a Schedule I drug (heroin)

· Manufacture/delivery/sale of a Schedule II drug (cocaine)

· Two counts of theft of property.

· Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

· Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony

· Possession of drug paraphernalia

· Two counts of simple possession of a Schedule II drug

· Simple possession of Schedule II drug

· Maintaining a dwelling for the purposes of selling narcotics

Detectives recovered seven firearms from the home, two stolen during a home burglary and an auto burglary.

Gamble is being held on $48,500 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Reducing overdoses and dramatic increases nationwide in heroin-related cases are goals of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit.

Sgt. Tony Hall says detectives have seized illegal drugs with an estimated street value of $3.1 million this year in Rutherford County, an increase of $1.8 million over the same time in 2017. The unit has also recovered 47 weapons, many determined to be stolen. Nearly 60 people were charged with felony narcotics related charges by investigators.

Twenty people suffered opioid-related overdoes this year in Rutherford County outside the city limits.

"The unit is working diligently to prevent heroin and fentanyl from reaching the streets of our community using a wide array of investigative techniques," Hall said.
