Homeless Population: Homeless Man Beat in Old Fort Park - Found Under a Table

Jul 16, 2013 at 05:00 pm by bryan

WGNS is continuing to follow the homeless situation that is growing in Murfreesboro. As released in past news stories, we are seeing more and more arrest involving the homeless living in our community. Most of the arrests we have seen are for public intoxication or for warrants that have been served.

In this most recent story, a homeless man was badly beaten while staying at Old Fort Park. A Murfreesboro Police Officer found the homeless victim under a table inside pavilion number two at the park. According to a police report, the man was very slow to respond to officers when trying to vocalize what had occurred.  The 48-year old homeless man had injuries to his head and face when the officer found him on Monday night just before 10:30. The man claims he was beat up by two other homeless men in the park.

This is the second time within the past two months that a homeless person has reported to police that he was the victim of an attack at the hands of other homeless people. In this most recent case, much like the last report we aired on a homeless attack, no arrest has been made.

The victim was transported to the hospital and his condition was not released.
