November 5, 2009
Hypodermic needle number two has been found in a vending machine on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. The campus authorities sent out a crime alert to students on Tuesday that stated, “MTSU Police were notified that another hypodermic needle was found by an MTSU student in a first floor "Vitamin Water" vending machine in the Keathley University Center. MTSU Police obtained a syringe with a needle from the machine’s drink dispenser slot. No one is known to have been injured in the incident.”
MTSU Police are advising students to be careful when retrieving beverages they purchase out of the vending machine slot.
During the first report of a hypodermic needle being found in a vending machine, an unknown person placed one in the returned change slot. That incident was reported at Peck Hall. So far, no arrests have been made.
