Is This An EARLY SPRING?

There are certain folklore signs of an early spring. Have you noticed any of these?

Have you heard songbirds--more than usual? Another frolic from feathered feathered friends is the thump, thump, thumb of a woodpecker. That too is an early spring sign.

More raptors in the area--those are hawks and especially red tailed hawks starting their courting period. Yes--another spring sign.

Is the silence of the evening hours made melodious with the hooting of owls? The great horned, barred and screech owls in this area.

More sighting of ducks in flight are signs of springtime.

And of course, budding trees. Red maple and water maples are often the first, with Bradford pears not far behind. And of course, daffodils.

But beware of sneaky weather patterns. The Rutherford County Agricultural Extension Service says mid-April is the last day we have a fifty per cent chance of 32-degree temps.

An example is shown below--that was two years ago in Murfreesboro, on this date, in 2015.

Now have a ball, and enjoy the weather.
