The Word of Life Family Worship Center in La Vergne is finally able to occupy their facility. Pastor Wellington Johnson, Sr., tells NewsRadio WGNS they'll hold a ribbon cutting and worship service this Sunday. It's been almost a year of disputes with the City of La Vergne over codes and legal issues that's delayed their opening. Johnson says it's been a long, unfortunate process...

The city refused final occupancy because of a utility box placed near the edge of the property. In February 2013, the church sued the City of La Vergne. While that lawsuit is still pending, Rutherford County Chancellor Howard Wilson issued a temporary injunction last month to allow the church to move in. Johnson says they'll now work to increase their attendence, which was cut nearly in half after not being able to occupy their facility.

State Representative Mike Sparks has set up a GoFundMe page, to help the church. We have a link to their page on our website, WGNSRadio.com. We'll also talk about this on Thursday between 10 and 11am on a special North Rutherford County edition of Rutherford Issues with Representative Sparks and Bryan Barrett.
