La Vergne to pave South Waldron Road
November 13, 2009
La Vergne Mayor Ronnie Erwin is presently in talks with a local paving companty to pave Waldron Road, south of I-24, he said today. The paving will take place from Blair Road to Rock Springs Road.
We are looking to do it ASAP, he said. Especially since the paving companies will be closing soon for the winter.
The road has been patched in the past, but now needs to be completely paved, he added.

Got something to say?

Well, duh, and what ‘forward; thinking, Mr Erwin………??? The road has been a mess for - oh - perhaps the last 15 years, and you are “in talks” with a paving company?? “In Talks”??? Let me help you……….You say “We’ll pay you this amount”, and then they say “Yes or No”….It’s really not complicated. And don’t worry about “winter’s arrival’ …this is LaVergne, not Marquette, Michigan. You can actually pave in January….depending on how your “talks” go….
The asphalt plants do shut down when it gets cold, so it’s a matter of doing it now. They can’t pave in the cold (below a certain temperature). Mayor Erwin has been talking with Hoover about paving the road. I believe that Hoover — who has our paving bid — has given the Mayor a price for the job (sorry I don’t know what it is) and they should start soon.
The road won’t be widened out in that area, just paved. Right now, we’re working on widening the road from Bridgestone Parkway to Murfreesboro Road. The bid was opened on Oct. 30. The Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has 30 days from the opening of the bid to confirm that all the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed. So please be patient with that.
I’m not sure when the widening will begin (that will depend on the MPO’s final decision), but we’ll get to it as soon as we can. Please note that the road will be a mess for quite a while.
