La Vergne Woman Arrested After Running Into White House Barrier

La Vergne resident Jessica R. Ford was arrested by the Secret Service around 3:30 Friday (2/23/2018) afternoon, when she reportedly drove her mini-van into a fixed security barrier at the White House. She was armed with a pistol.

CBS News reports that the White House went on lockdown Friday afternoon when the suspect allegedly "intentionally drove a white mini-van into a security barrier near the White House," as the U.S. Secret Service described the incident late Friday. The vehicle did not breach the security barrier, and no law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident.

Ford was well known to the Service Service at the White House. allegedly the 35-year old Rutherford County resident attempted to get through security and scale the White House fence in April, May and July of last year (2017).

She has been arrested and charged with unlawful entry, carrying an unlicensed pistol, and destruction of government property.

In an official statement from the Secret Service, "There have been previous encounters with Ford in the vicinity of the White House resulting in numerous arrests for a variety of criminal violations. The female was again charged Friday with numerous criminal violations and transported to the Metropolitan Police Department. The White House complex has returned to normal operations."

The incident took place as President Trump was inside the White House, after holding a press conference with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, naturally heightening concerns.

Mr. Trump thanked the Secret Service on Twitter for responding.

In addition to having a criminal record in Washington, DC, she also has numerous charges in both Rutherford County as well as Metro Nashville. Here in Rutherford County, she has numerous charges of violation of probation as well as resisting arrest from 2004 to 2006. In Metro, she registered as a convicted drug offender and crimminal trespassing in 2011. A year later, Metro has her charged with failure to appear in court.

Again, La Vergne resident Jessica Ford has been arrested by the U.S. Secret Service after running her mini-van into a security barrier at the White House.
