A well known La Vergne woman celebrated her 101st birthday. Jane Vailes celebrated with a huge turnout at the La Vergne Senior Center Monday.

Ms. Vailes is in the Daughters of American Revolution Society. She also worked on B24 wing spars in WWII and as an adult she wrote a column for a Smyrna newspaper for 25 years.

Mayor Waldron presented Ms. Vailes with the La Vergne Centenarian Award during an 11am celebration.
