Labor Day Reduces Risk of Roadblocks Thru September 8th

Labor Day reduces the amount of work construction crews can complete this week, and Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran reports that now through September 8th--the amount for traffic challenges are down as well.

Veterans Pkwy (New section between Barfield Road/Kimbro Road and Barfield Crescent Road)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Contractor will begin paving the new section of Veterans Pkwy at Barfield Road. Lone Oak Drive at Veterans Pkwy will be closed on Wednesday, September 5th and traffic will be detoured on to Snead Dr and Southridge Blvd. There will be traffic pattern changes on Barfield Crescent Road and Barfield Road. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Atmos Energy Bare Main Replacement Project

1) Burton Street between N Front Street and Maple Street:  Expected Lane Closures: Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 4:00 PM: The contractor for Atmos Energy will be replacing gas lines along the south side of Burton Street between N Front Street and Maple Street. Work will begin at Front Street and will proceed in an easterly direction along the south side of Burton Street. Burton Street will be reduced to one lane with flagman directing traffic. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. 

2) Kings Hwy between Bridge Avenue and Old Salem Road:  Expected Lane Closures: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM: The contractor for Atmos Energy will be replacing gas lines along Kings Hwy between Bridge Ave and Old Salem. Work will begin near Bridge Ave and will proceed in a southerly direction along the east side of Kings Hwy. There will be heavy work activities between Villa Street and Old Salem Rd. There will be lane closures on the west side of Kings Highway between Bridge Ave and Old Salem Rd. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Intersection Improvement (Joe B Jackson Pkwy at Amazon Site) 

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:00 PM: City contractor will be installing traffic signal and constructing right turn lanes on Joe B Jackson Pkwy at the Amazon site. Eastbound traffic on Joe B Jackson will be reduced to one lane. Milling and paving work continues. There will betraffic interruptions and lane closures. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
