Three lucky children will find prize eggs during the traditional Easter Egg Hunt in La Vergne, scheduled Saturday, March 23 at Veterans Memorial Park.  Games will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the egg hunt is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.

“We call it an Easter Egg Hunt, but when you see a football field filled with colorful eggs it is more of an egg run,” said Mayor Senna Mosley.  “But the children love this event so it is a pleasure to offer it every year.”

All egg hunters will first meet at Shelter A next to the playground for games such a bunny bean bag toss, guessing jelly beans in a jar, a spoon-egg race, and craft projects.  For children ages 11 and under, thousands of eggs are scattered at the football field.  There will be three age divisions with three grand prizes: newborn to age four; five to seven; and eight to 11 years old.

“The egg hunt attendance ranges from 200 to 1,000 children, depending on the weather,” said Alderman Tom Broeker, chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee. “We heard a rumor that the Easter Bunny will once again make an appearance at the egg hunt again this year.  The bunny is pretty patient and loves to pose for pictures with children and families.”
