Library's Technology Center Opens WEDNESDAY!

(Murfreesboro) The Rutherford County Public Library System's new Technology Engagement Center officially opens this Wednesday. The 5,492 square foot facility is located at 306 Minerva Drive, on campus with Hobgood Elementary School and behind the fire hall on Mercury Boulevard.

Rutherford County Library Director Rita Shacklett said, "41 percent of the people here in Rutherford County do not have internet, and the new Technology Engagement Center will offer free WiFi service."

The new branch is the first of its kind in Tennessee and one of only about three stand alone library / technology centers in the United States. TEC has 36 computers, technology meeting rooms, 3-D printers and more.

Reservations to use the Computer Lab and Meeting Rooms can be made online at rclstn.org.

The new facility will be known as TEC, which stands for Technology Engagement Center. The hours of operation, starting this coming Wednesday (8/1/2018), will be:

  • Mondays: noon - 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: noon - 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: noon - 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays: noon - 6:00 p.m.
  • Fridays: noon - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays: noon - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sundays: 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Eagleville Bicentennial Public Library is located at 317 Hwy 99E in Eagleville. MGL Library is located inside Patterson Park Community Center at 521 Mercury Blvd. in Murfreesboro. The Technology Engagement Center is located at 306 Minerva Drive.
