George Barrett, a junior at Redeemer Classical Academy, has accomplished what only 4% of Boy Scouts achieve, the rank of Eagle Scout.

George started in Cub Scouts in the first grade, and he continued with them until crossing over onto Boy Scouts as a fifth-grader. He earned the Arrow of Life which is the only badge earned as a Cub Scout that can be carried over into Boy Scouts. Since that time George has been active in Troop 416 led by Mr. Tom Caldwell at First Baptist Church. He is Mr. Tom's 121st Eagle Scout.

Each Eagle Scout candidate must perform a final Eagle Project in order to obtain Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Project, George organized and let Troop 416 in renovating Cook's Cemetery in Milton, TN. They repaired broken headstones, removed brush, and even cleared trees, which were growing through some of the tombs.

The Boy Scouts of America reported over 17 million volunteer hours in 2013. Local service projects include Food Collection and Distribution, Litter Cleanup and Community Beautification, and Conservation Projects.

George Barrett encourages all boys to enter the journey of Scouting. For more information about the Boy Scouts of America, visit www.scouting.org.
