St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro is hosting Training to Defuse Tense Situations. The training will take place on Monday, October 29, from 6 to 8:30 pm in the parish hall. Refreshments will be provided.

In collaboration with Open Table Nashville, St Paul's is offering the training in defusing tense situations that can arise in overnight shelters, soup kitchens, on the street, and in other places where volunteers encounter people who have experienced stressful circumstances and are feeling anxious and insecure. If you serve in these environments, you know that it doesn't take much for tensions to rise when working with people under different levels of stress who are together in close quarters.

This training will better equip you to understand what is happening before and during situations that have the potential to escalate, to be prepared with intervention strategies, and to feel more equipped to step in and assist. Not only is this training interactive, but it is also steeped in evidence-based practices like trauma-informed care.

Lindsey Krink, the Education and Street Chaplaincy Coordinator at Open Table Nashville, will lead this trauma-informed de-escalation training.
