Bryan Lewis, M.D., Internal Medicine Physician at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic was awarded Health Care Leader Award by Journeys in Community Living at their Annual Celebration and Silent Auction last week.

He has been on staff at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic since 2006. In that time he has become involved in the community by giving his time to patients at Journeys in Community Living. He has treated and cared for several adults with intellectual disabilities who are served by Journeys.

“Dr. Lewis is a kind man and a great doctor,” said Journeys in Community Living Executive Director Betty McNeely. “He is always willing to go above and beyond to keep the people we serve healthy.”

Lewis has made several “house calls” over the past year to treat a person served by Journeys who is frightened by doctors and medical facilities. This individual spent a good portion of her life in a soon-to-be defunct institution. “House calls are almost unheard of these days, and we just think what he does for this lady is very special,” McNeely said. “He is very deserving of this award.”

“Our mission statement for 65 years has been ‘Your Health is our Mission,’ and we are always eager to share when our physicians are leading by example,” said Director of Marketing, Kimberly Smith.

Journeys provide residential and day services for adults with intellectual disabilities who live in Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
