Enter September Quilt Show Now: Thu.-Sat. (Sept. 23-25, 2010) QUILT SHOW at the Sam Davis Home and Museum (1399 Sam Davis Road; Smyrna, TN). Murfreesboro’s CITIZEN’S FIRE ACADEMY class begins Tuesday, September 14th (6-9PM) at the MFD Administration (220 NW Broad St.). Subjects scheduled for discussion or hands-on experience will include a fire engine ride, CPR training, fire prevention techniques and use of departmental turnout firefighting clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus. Both exit # 75 Medical Center Parkway and exit #78 Old Fort Parkway take you to the new Farmers Market. The Lane Agri-Park is just down the street from Sam’s and next to the PAWS animal adoption service. August 25-September 4, 2010

Excitement in the Celebration Grounds in neighboring Shelbyville, TN.  More than $750,000 in prizes and awards are given. It started in 1939 with 100 supporters. Now the Celebration has a 30,000 seat outdoor stadium and a 4,500 seat indoor arena. Big prizes are available: more than $650,000 in prizes and awards are given. Thu. (Nov. 25, 2010) 8AM BORODASH Thanksgiving Day 4-mile benefit run/walk. A certified 4-mile route begins and ends at MTSU’s Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium on Greenland Drive and takes you through historic downtown Murfreesboro. Pre-registration: $20 for ages 14-59 (Family Run-Pack for 4=$70 (all ages); $18 for ages 13 and younger or 60+. You must sign-up before November 20th to take advantage of the lower entry fees. The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross has renovated and enlarged its blood center at 836 Commercial Court (around the corner from UPS). The same local staff is now handling all of these new blood drives. In addition, Murfreesboro is now equipped to service platelet aphaeresis donations.
