(Nov. 6-21, 2009) The Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway; Woodbury, TN) presents Driving Miss Daisy. This warm-hearted comedy that captured the Pulitzer Prize, tells the story of the surprising friendship that grows between tiny yet tenacious Daisy Werthan, an independent Jewish widow, and Hoke, the soft-spoken yet proud Africian American chauffeur hired by her son after she crashes another car. At first, Daisy’s stubbornness and cultural prejudices cause much friction, but Daisy, Hoke and her son, Boolie, grow over the span of 25 years, during the tidal waves of change in the American South. We watch as these two seemingly very different people discover how much they truly have in common. Phone 615-563-ARTS (2787) for more information or to make reservations.

As the New Year of 1947 was rung-in, Murfreesboro and Rutherford County suddenly entered the electronic age. At 10PM on December 31, 1946, this community’s first radio station signed-on. It was built on the principal of being a GOOD NEIGHBOR. In fact, the G N S in the station’s call sign stands for Good Neighbor Station. That slogan shapes the way WGNS reports news, promotes itself and the way our staff is personally involved in this community. WGNS really is your radio station. When you hear something you like, let us know. But when you hear something you don’t like, especially let us know. Phone 615-893-5373.
