Sat. (Oct. 2, 2010) 5AM-? MIDDLE TENNESSEE MEDICAL CENTER moves all patients from the old campus on Highland Avenue to the high-tech new 68-acre seven-story hospital on Medical Center Parkway. A parade of ambulances will begin transporting patient’s from MTMC’s old hospital on Highland Avenue to the beautiful new, state-of-the-art complex on Medical Center Parkway. As of 5AM all of Middle Tennessee Medical Center’s services will switch to the new facility, and that includes the Emergency Room.

Thu.-Sat. (Oct. 7-9, 2010) TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION OF RESCUE SQUADS holds its 60th Anniversary Convention here in Murfreesboro at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center. Fifty-squads in the volunteer state with more than 700 persons will take classes that improve their skills, have special competition, and learn of new equipment from numerous vendors.

HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL!! Sat, (October 23rd) 4p - 9p at 8067 Woodbury Hwy - Kittrell Volunteer Fire Dept. The Kittrell Volunteer Fire Department annual Halloween Festival is scheduled to take place on October 23rd at the Kittrell Volunteer Fire Station on Woodbury Highway. Volunteer Matt Lane says that ghoulish games will be available for children and there will also be a car and bike cruise in. Chili will be served for $10 per adult and $5 for children.

Sat. (Oct. 30, 2010) THE 7th ANNUAL PEARL BALL at the Smyrna Air Center. This conjurs memories of Humphrey Bogard and Ingred Bergman in Casablanca. Enjoy an evening with a seated dinner, dancing, silent auction and more. Proceeds benefit The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation and will support the programs and services offered to those in Rutherford County who are affected by cancer. Cancer survivor Andy Womack is this year’s honoree. This past state senator and local business leader participated in a clinical trial through Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in 2005 to battle lymphoma cancer and is doing well today. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium on Greenland Drive and takes you through historic downtown Murfreesboro. Pre-registration: $20 for ages 14-59 (Family Run-Pack for 4=$70 (all ages); $18 for ages 13 and younger or 60+. You must sign-up before November 20th to take advantage of the lower entry fees. image Now Five Blood Drives Weekly The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross has renovated and enlarged its blood center at 836 Commercial Court (around the corner from UPS). The same local staff is now handling all of these new blood drives. In addition, Murfreesboro is now equipped to service platelet pheresis donations.
