The Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS® (MTAR) will award their annual scholarships to incoming college freshmen for fall 2017 at area high school awards ceremonies in the spring. Scholarship applications were mailed to all high school guidance offices in the MTAR 8-county area on January 6, 2017. MTAR serves Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Moore and Rutherford Counties in Tennessee.

Scholarship applications are accepted annually from high school seniors planning to attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university physically located within the 8-county MTAR area. In addition, the student must currently reside in one of these 8 counties. This year's scholarships are for fall 2017 and spring 2018 and may be used for any expense that the student may incur.

Area high school seniors should ask for an application from their school guidance office. The application can also be downloaded from the Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS® website, www.mtar.org, and are available in the MTAR office at 311 Butler Drive in Murfreesboro. All scholarships will be awarded at the student's senior awards ceremony.

Five scholarships were awarded in 2016 totaling $6000. Funds for the MTAR Scholarship program annually are from the proceeds of the Bill Carey REALTOR® Golf Scramble and the MTAR Charity Golf Scramble. This year, the 40th Annual Bill Carey REALTOR® Golf Scramble will be held on Wednesday, June 7 at Indian Hills Golf Club in Murfreesboro. The 12th Annual MTAR Charity Golf Scramble is planned for Thursday, September 21 at WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester. Besides the Scholarship program, both scrambles share proceeds with other local charities.
