A 26-year old man who was said to be armed with a gun and shooting at people in Murfreesboro has been arrested. A nearby neighbor of Saad M. Algari told police the man kicked on his apartment door and broke out a window prior to police arrival.

When officers located Algari, it was determined that his Colt 1911 was actually a fake. The gun turned out to be an airsoft pistol designed to look like the famed 1911 semi auto handgun.

The first Colt M-1911 pistol was designed by John Browning and it became the standard-issue U.S. military sidearm from 1911 to 1985. The Colt 1911 is what modern day semi-auto's can trace their roots back to.

As for the Air Soft gun allegedly used by Algari, it was recovered by police. The 26-year old man living at an apartment complex on Old Castle Drive was also recovered by police. Algari was arrested at Aspen Heights Apartments and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Vandalism.

The suspect, who says he is a student, was released from jail after posting a $6,500 bond. He will appear in court this November. No word on why the subject was allegedly and shooting at people with an Air Soft gun.
