Man Charged With 7th DUI

An abandoned vehicle has led to the arrest of a local man on some very serious charges. Cannon County Sheriff’s Department Deputies happened upon a vehicle which had run into a ditch on Lassiter Barker Road in Readyville. After some investigation, officers discovered the driver, Michael A. Murphy, age 39 of Graycroft Avenue in Nashville, had been reportedly driving the vehicle when he lost control and ended up in the ditch. Murphy then allegedly called an acquaintance to come pick him up in an effort to avoid contact with the police. Once officers finally tracked down Murphy, they found out that he was not only intoxicated, but did not have a valid driver’s license. Additionally, Murphy had 6 prior DUIs and 6 previous driving on a revoked license charges. Deputy Brandon Mims placed Murphy under arrest and charged him with driving on a revoked license 7th offense, driving under the influence 7th offense, failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident. -WBRY
