The Murfreesboro man charged in the Antioch church shooting was schedule to appear in court.

Emanuel Samson, age 25, was to be in court Friday before a Davidson County general sessions court judge for a hearing. That court date was postponed to a later, undetermined date.

Samson is charged in the shooting death of Melanie Smith of Smyrna and the wounding of others after the September 24th incident at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ, just over the Rutherford County line in Antioch.

Samson waived his rights and admitted to police he arrived at the church armed. Law enforcement said a note in his car pointed to retaliation for the 2015 shooting by Dylan Roof at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Samson is being held in Nashville without bond.
