Man eludes authorities only one day in Murfreesboro

A man who allegedly fled from Rutherford County Sheriff's Deputies was later arrested by Murfreesboro Police.

Andre E. Johnson had a total of nine warrants awaiting his arrest when Murfreesboro Police located the subject outside of Walmart at the intersection of Joe B. Jackson Parkway and South Church Street.

Evidently, police got a tip that he was in the gazebo area in front of Walmart sitting in the backseat of a black Mustang. Plain clothed officers moved in followed by uniformed patrol. Police opened the door of the car and pulled Johnson out when they saw that he was armed with a handgun.

The prior day, Johnson apparently fled on foot leaving his car behind. In his attempt to getaway, he allegedly left behind his narcotics that were discovered by deputies in his car.

Johnson was served 9 outstanding warrants and charged with possession of a handgun by a felon and resisting arrest.

The Murfreesboro man will face the list of charges in a Rutherford County Courtroom on November 8, 2016. As of Thursday, he remains behind bars at the Adult Detention Center.
