Man Passed Out in a Running Vehicle Leads of DUI and Drug Arrest

A 32-year old Bandy Court man is looking at DUI and drug charges after police allegedly found him passed out at the intersection of Aztec and Maya Drives.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Daniel Clayton reports Jonathan Phillip Gambrel was behind the wheel of the car Saturday morning at 9am unconscious. After several attempts to rouse the suspect, he woke up and seemed confused. Gambrel reported to the officer he and his female passenger were delivering newspapers and they were tired.

Officer Clayton searched the vehicle and reportedly found rolling papers and a prescription pill bottle with Gambrel's name on it with marijuana inside. He also reported finding a digital scale in the center console and a glass pipe in the trunk.

After failing a field sobriety test, Gambrel was arrested for driving under the influence, second offense, driving on a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed on a 55-hundred dollar bond and will be in court April 5th.
