Here’s a new scam that has hit CraigsList… One Hermitage man met with a woman at the Kroger Store on New Lascassas Pike in Rutherford County to purchase a Mac-Book laptop computer. The victim told police he met with the sister of the person selling the laptop.

The suspect told the victim that her sister lived in Pennsylvania and that the laptop would be shipped to his address after he paid her for the computer. The 21-year old victim handed over $1,000 in cash and the suspect later texted the victim a tracking number from the shipping company. The victim realized he had been duped after finding out the tracking number was fictitious.

Police do have the suspect’s phone number. The victim also gave police the suspect name, although it is likely an alias. The victim is now out $1,000 and has no new computer to show for it.
