Meeting about the growth of Murfreesboro and the 2035 Comprehensive Plan

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission will gather to conduct a public hearing on the Murfreesboro 2035 Comprehensive Plan at 7 p.m., Wed., July 12, 2017.

Murfreesboro 2035 is a community-wide process to plan for the next 20 years of growth and development. The results of the two-year planning process culminated in the City of Murfreesboro's Comprehensive Plan. The plan is a community guidebook that specifies policy, program, and project initiatives for the City.

The public hearing will be held in Council Chambers in the City Hall (111 W Vine Street) prior to considering adoption of the 20-year plan. All elements of the plan drafted by consultant Kendig Keast Collaborative (KKC) and reviewed by city staff and the 2035 Task Force, will be considered for adoption except for Chapter 3: Mobility (Transportation).

Chapter 3: Mobility is currently under development in coordination with the Major Thoroughfare Plan. The transportation chapter and Major Thoroughfare Plan will be considered for adoption at a later date after additional opportunities for public input.

Subconsultant Neel-Shaffer, Inc. analyzed traffic, growth, and future land use in preparing the Major Thoroughfare Plan, which informs Chapter 3: Mobility.

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission will gather to hear from the public and discuss adoption of the Murfreesboro 2035 comprehensive plan. The plan outlines Murfreesboro's quality of life, community character, land use, and growth capacity which has been part of a 2-year process of comprehensively planning for the next 20 years.
