Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Murfreesboro Police Department will "go to bat" Saturday, June 17th in a friendly competition to raise money for a good cause.

The departments, who together make up the "Boro Public Safety" Relay for Life Team, will be playing in a "Guns N Hoses" softball game. Proceeds from the game will directly benefit the Relay for Life team and will assist Rutherford County's efforts to raise money for cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

The game will take place Saturday, June 17 at 10:00 am on the field located at Old Fort Park.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate; $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for kids three and under. Concessions will be available. For more information please contact Ashley McDonald at amcdonald@murfreesborotn.gov.

"Guns N Hoses" competitions are nothing new to the agencies. The two suited up for basketball in February for the same cause. Team Fire took a 70-44 victory over Team Police. The inaugural event was a huge success, raising over $1,700.
