The story of Helen Keller comes to the stage at the Springhouse Theatre Company at 14119 Old Nashville Highway in Smyrna. William Gibson's classic three act play, The Miracle Worker,  wraps-up Springhouse Theatre's season with the remarkable story of Helen Keller and her miracle-working teacher, Anne Sullivan.

Helen Keller, though born a healthy child, was stricken with an undiagnosed illness when she was 19 months old. Though she recovered, she was left blind and deaf.

The rage of incomprehension grew until Helen became half-wild, prompting her parents to seek help from the legendary inventor, Dr. Alexander Graham Bell. Through Bell’s assistance, the Keller’s were introduced to young Anne Sullivan whose persistence and determination finally introduced Helen to the world of words.

“Gibson’s play has achieved mythic status as one of the great dramas of the American stage and resonates with audiences on multiple levels,” says Dee Warren, the show’s director. “The Miracle Worker is not just a story – it is an archtype of the human condition. We have all found ourselves sitting in darkness in need of someone to bring us the light.”

Audiences have been inspired for over 50 years by The Miracle Worker. Performances are March 28th through April 13th. Springhouse Theatre is located on the campus of Springhouse Worship & Arts Center at 14119 Old Nashville Highway, Smyrna, TN. Tickets are available at www.ticketsnashville.com or phone (615) 852-8499, or visit their website at www.Springhousetheatre.com.
