With the help of two award-winning university debate teams, the League of Women Voters of Murfreesboro/Rutherford County will be hosting a model debate to demonstrate exemplary political discourse and consider several issues related to the election process. The event will be held on Tuesday evening, February 16th, from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Murfreesboro City Hall. The public is invited. Debate teams from MTSU and Belmont will participate in the event.

"In today's fractured political environment, we in the League are concerned that Americans have lost sight of what a healthy debate looks like," said Leslie Collum, co-president of the local League. "A cornerstone for these teams is integrity, respect and kindness, as well as preparation on the issues." Both teams will be prepared to argue either for or against the questions presented and will adhere to established rules for arguments and rebuttals in the allotted time.
