More and more marijuana related arrest are being made in Rutherford County. At this point, no studies have been done to determine if they are related to marijuana being legalized in Colorado, but some cities across the United States are suggesting just that.

The most recent arrest was that of 20-year old  Thomas E. Miller. The subject was the passenger in a truck that was pulled over on South Maney Avenue because he was not wearing his seatbelt, according to an arrest report. The driver of the truck gave police permission to search his vehicle. During the search, over 20-grams of marijuana was located along with a bong. Miller advised the marijuana was his and not the drivers.

Police then turned their attention to Miller’s cell phone. The phone, according to the report, revealed text messages and photos related to drugs and drug transactions. Miller now faces felony drug charges.

He was booked under a $4,000 bond and later released. The South Carolina resident (according to his drivers license) will appear in court in a Rutherford County Courtroom May 29, 2014.
