Additional ducks were rescued this past Saturday in Murfreesboro:

Engine 1 and two sergeants from the Murfreesboro Police Department jointly rescued 11 baby ducks from a storm drain on Southeast Broad Street near the Discovery Center Saturday morning.

Ten of the baby ducks were an easy rescue and were reunited with the “Mama Duck” on land. The last baby to be rescued was carried by Discovery Center employees via canoe to meet the others on the river. Once everyone was together, the Mama Duck led them across the river.

“Unfortunately, this was not the first duck rescue we’ve experienced at this storm drain,” said Shift Commander Dale Maynard. “However, we truly appreciated the help of Sergeants Roche and Atchley of MPD, who were very instrumental in the success of this particular rescue.”
