Mother and Daughter arrested for allegedly selling marijuana together in Murfreesboro

Police in Murfreesboro responded to an address on Bradyville Pike where possible drug activity was reported. When they arrived on the scene, Officer J. Sanford made contact with 35-year old Janice A. Thomas and her daughter. The two gave Officer Sanford permission to enter their home.

Sanford reported that when he entered, he could smell the odor of marijuana. The officer soon found several Mason jars filled with marijuana. Grow lamps and flower pots were then found containing pieces of raw marijuana leaves.

When police journeyed to the garage, the odor of marijuana grew stronger. Sitting in the middle of the floor was a garbage bag containing what was revealed to be *weed. That was when the mother and daughter denied ownership of the marijuana, but admitted to knowing *Mary Jane was there.

Officers then walked into the bedroom of 18-year old Alina C. Bell, the daughter of Janice Thomas. There, they discovered a cell phone containing text messages dealing with the sale of marijuana. Police say they also saw photos of her holding Mason jars containing marijuana and large stacks of cash.

The mother and daughter were charged with the manufacturing or sale of a schedule 6 drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. They will appear in court on October 7, 2014.
