A 38-year old Murfreesboro woman has been charged with promoting the prostitution of a minor. The woman, whose name we are not releasing to protect the identity of her daughter, allegedly charged male customers $150 to spend time with her 17-year old daughter. After the daughter had sex with the men, she would split the money with her mother.

During a police interview, the North Academy Street woman gave police names of men whom she let sleep with her daughter.  Police say that during questioning, the mother reportedly used a pen in the interview room to stab herself in the neck and stomach. The suspect told police that she was going to kill herself. The woman also attempted to stab a police officer.

The culprit was charged with promoting prostitution of a minor and two counts of aggravated assault. She will appear in court on September 21st.
